For their first game in the 2015 IHF Super Globe, Sydney Uni Handball Club faced local qatari club Al Sadd. Going goal for goal for most of the match against their hosts and last years finalists, Sydney Uni, led by Diego Llorente (best scorer) and Brazilian national, Renato Rui were able to hold onto their lead into the dying moments of the game and secure the victory – 21-20 (9-10 half time).

The boys from downunder became the very first Australian or Oceania club ever to win a game at the IHF Super Globe.

Sydney Uni will now meet with Hungarian club MKB-MVM Veszprém on Tuesday 8th of September, in the semi-final, guaranteeing the club a spot in the final-4  of the tournament.
