Sydney Uni HC has entered the final stages of its preparations for the IHF Super Globe. The last squad decisions have been made, and coach Philipp Enders has put his team through another intensive camp over the weekend, three weeks ahead of the departure for Doha.

As part of this camp, Sydney Uni played a training match against Australia’s junior national team. For most parts, Sydney Uni controlled the game and secured a 22:11 (11:6) win – more importantly though it was an opportunity to fine tune set moves and and practice under game circumstances. Not everything was perfect, particularly in attack, but the speed and structure was certainly already there.

It was also the first time new recruits Silvio Alvim, Christoph Scholl, Jonathan Lennstrom and Manuel Postbiegel appeared in blue and gold – and they all contributed the the score line. It was good to see how they have already been integrated – while it was also obvious that the team still has quite a bit of work ahead to be ready for international pace and physicality in just 21 days when they’ll play their first game at the IHF Super Globe, the official Club World Championships.
